| Methacton High School's Women's Performance Group Rosemary Welsh, Artistic Director/Advisor Serving Learning Becoming |
| The Women's Performance Group is more than another school club. It is an environment where young women and men consider human rights issues, develop their talents, nurture their aspirations, and support those in need. The group uses the word performance for part of its name because they often combine the use of visual and performing arts in their many service-learning projects. Members are actively engaged in preparing activities. Student officers and committees help plan, oversee, and coordinate activities. Do not let the group's name fool you. All are welcome to join. Several young men are members and two have been officers. One of the wonderful outcomes of the group's work is that many are realizing that women's issues are humanity's issues. Through preparation, service, reflection, and celebration this group takes Eleanor Roosevelt's advice and "lights candles in the darkness" as it strives for a better and brighter world." |
